The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation has announced a new partnership with Operator Mindfulness and Mobility (OMM) to provide yoga and meditation classes for NSW Active Duty service members, veterans, and their families. The new program builds powerful individual, family, and community resiliency. SEALs are known for their unconventional solutions to the challenges of modern warfare — on and off the battlefield. OMM utilizes a unique practice of yoga developed by Katherine Alfredo through her four years of intense work with NSWC to build resiliency into NSW operator emotional health, physical capacity, and interpersonal relationships. OMM’s mission is is to provide support during times of chronic stress to improve overall quality of life and health of our NSW Active Duty service members, veterans, and their families through classes on base, workshops, and ULT/deployment kits.
OMM’s inaugural workshop kicked off as a Yoga-Self Care theme attended by operators and spouses. One of their most attended classes was “Strength through Transitions” a Yoga-TRX workshop that attracted an over-capacity group of 24 participants, including nine NSW couples. Katherine and her partner led the group through a great workshop of basic partner massage, Thai yoga, and partner yoga. It was a great session of fun, communication, and caring for each other. The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation is excited to see OMM’s program continuity growing in the teams with team members looking forward to these family workshops.
